• Syracuse University College of Law: ABA Standing Committee on the Federal Judiciary Reading Group — advised ABA on U.S. Supreme Court nominees Samuel Alito, Harriet Miers, and Sonia Sotomayor;

• Syracuse University College of Law: Appointments Committee; Self-Study Committee for 2004 ABA site review; Dean’s Advisory Committee; Co-chair Building Committee,1992-1998.

Public service:  until I began phased retirement in 2008, I contributed over 500 hours each year in volunteer service to community and nation.

• Civilian volunteer, United States Coast Guard, Station Oswego, 2001-2008 — radio watchstander and boat crew member, 2001-2008; flotilla commander after 9/11.

• Volunteer emergency medical technician and firefighter, Fayetteville Fire Department, in Fayetteville, New York, 1985-2012.

• United States Naval Reserve, 1966-1972.
